[http://www.abc14.tv/ KMCY]KBMY channel 17 and KMCY channel 14 are
television stations in westernNorth Dakota , owned byForum Communications ofFargo, North Dakota and managed byPrime Cities Broadcasting , owner of Fox affiliates KNDX and KXND. The stations are affiliated with theAmerican Broadcasting Company . Bismarck (KBMY) and Minot (KMCY) are served with full-power stations while Dickinson and Williston are served by translators (low-powered rebroadcasters).History
KBMY and KMCY signed on in 1985, bringing the full ABC schedule to western North Dakota and eastern Montana for the first time ever. Before 1985, portions of ABC programming were carried by the KX Television and Meyer Television groups. Prior to K44HR's inception, cable television subscribers in the Williston area received
Denver 'sKMGH-TV on cable for ABC programming. Dickinson also received KMGH, especially as they were inMountain Time Zone , until K42FY signed on.The stations do not produce much local content. KMCY largely simulcasts KBMY, aside from local commercials. The Dickinson station directly repeats KBMY, while the Williston station repeats KMCY.
A 30-minute morning show, "Good Morning West Dakota," is produced by Bismarck radio station
KBMR and aired on all four stations. It is the only local newscast on KBMY and KMCY, and there are no local cut-ins during "Good Morning America ".Until 2007, KBMY and KMCY were known collectively as "ABC West". That year, the stations changed their monikers in favor of the station identities for their area.
