Maeshafn

Maeshafn

Maeshafn is a very small village in Denbighshire, Wales. It is located near the border with Flintshire

There are no shops in the village, but there is a pub called the Miners Arms. The A494 road is 1 mile (1.6 km) away. Maeshafn and the villages nearby are popular with tourists who enjoy walking in the Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty; there are some walks nearby up Loggerheads and Moel Famau, both within a 2 mile (3.2 km) distance. The Offa's Dyke Path is also nearby. The nearest town to Maeshafn is Mold which is 3 miles (4.83 km) away.

Maeshafn was originally a lead mining village called Maes y safn - the field of the mouth of the dog - presumably due to the shape of the mine entrance. [1]

Maeshafn is overlooked by Moel Findeg hill [2], site of historical lead mining and part of which is a designated local nature reserve.
