Evelyn John Webb-Carter

Major-General Sir Evelyn John Webb-Carter KCVO OBE was the last 'Colonel of The Regiment' of The Duke of Wellington's Regiment (West Riding), (1999-2006), before their amalgamation into the Yorkshire Regiment, 3rd Battalion (Duke of Wellington's). He remain the current President of the Duke of Wellington's Regimental Association.

A former advisor to Queen Elizabeth, the Queen Mother (1900-2002)—the widow of George VI and mother of Queen Elizabeth II. He is the current Controller of the Army Benevolent Fund [ [http://www.armybenfund.org/aboutus/aboutus.html Army Benevolent Fund] ] , a British charity set up to provide help for former British soldiers and their families who are in need of assistance.

Educated at Wellington College in Berkshire and the Royal Military Academy in Sandhurst.

A former commander in the Grenadier Guards, in which he was commissioned in 1966. He was mentioned in despatches in 1977.
