Tablelands Regional Council

Tablelands Regional Council is a Local Government Area in Queensland, Australia. The Local Government Area was created in March 2008 as a result of the report of the Local Government Reform Commission released in July 2007. The new Council, located in Far North Queensland, contains the entire area of four former Local Government Areas;
*Shire of Atherton;
*Shire of Eacham;
*Shire of Herberton; and
*Shire of Mareeba.

The report recommended that the new local government area should not be divided into wards and elect eight councillors and a mayor. The Tablelands Regional Council will cover an area of convert|64999|km2|sqmi|0|lk=on, contain an estimated resident population in 2006 of 42,145 and have an estimated operating budget of AUD62.2m.

The Regional Council covers the towns of Atherton, Butchers Creek, Chillagoe, Dimbulah, Herberton, Jaggan, Kairi, Kuranda, Malanda, Mareeba, Millaa Millaa, Mount Garnet, Mount Molloy, Peeramon, Ravenshoe, Tarzali, Tinaroo, Tolga and Yungaburra.
