[http://www.energymanagertraining.com Energy Manager Training ] - The Government of India has enforced The Energy Conservation Act, 2001 (No 52 of 2001, 29th September 2001) with effect from 1st March 2002. The Act provides mainly for efficient use of energy and its conservation and for matters connected therewith or incidental thereto. As per the Energy Conservation Act 2001, it is mandatory for all the designated energy consumers to get energy audit conducted by an Accredited Energy Auditor [under clause 14(h) and 14(i)] and to designate or appoint an Energy Manager [under clause 14(l)] . The Government of India has notified the list of designated consumers.

The Energy Conservation Act implemented by the Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE), a statutory body under Government of India, envisages creation of cadre of professionally qualified energy managers and auditors with expertise in energy management, project management, financing and implementation of energy efficiency projects, as well as policy analysis. It is a Law to force firms to make more profit and not an Act to control and monitor energy consumption of industry.

[http://www.energymanagertraining.com/ECBC/main.htm ECBC ] - Energy Conservation Building Code - The country is witnessing a surge in commercial energy consumption as a result of large investments, particularly in the commercial buildings sector, to meet the needs of our rapidly expanding services sector. It is essential that the growth in the commercial buildings and services sector is commensurate with needs, but in a manner that is also responsive to the energy needs of the building and the local climate. This requires that buildings are designed appropriately, which would reduce their own energy bills, as well as reduce the load on the electricity supply system. In order to do so, section 14(p) of the Energy Conservation Act 2001 empowers the Government to prescribe Energy Conservation Building Codes (ECBC) for efficient use of energy and its conservation in commercial buildings. The ECBC will set minimum energy efficiency standards for design and construction of nonresidential building. The ECBC will not constrain building form, functions, comfort, or the productivity of occupants. ECBC provisions generally enhance comfort and occupant productivity. ECBC encourage energy efficient design or retrofit of commercial buildings so that they are designed in a manner that reduces the use of energy without affecting the building function, the comfort, health, or the productivity of the occupants.
