The Balkan Whip Snake, Hierophis gemonensis, is a species in the family Colubridae.

Geographic range

It is found in Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Republic of Macedonia, Greece, Italy, Serbia and Montenegro, and Slovenia.

Habitat

Its natural habitats are Mediterranean-type shrubby vegetation, pastureland, plantations, and rural gardens.

Conservation status

It is threatened by habitat loss.
