J. Reginald Murphy, (1933-?), was the editor of the "Atlanta Constitution" and "San Francisco Examiner".

On February 20, 1974, he was kidnapped by a man and his wife. Two days later, he was released after a payment of $700,000 had been made. The man and his wife were arrested.Fact|date=February 2007
