Career

After spending many years of his youth playing with Red Star Belgrade, during which he was loaned to FK Jedinstvo Ub, he decided to accept a challenge that came from Belgium and moved to Lierse S.K. in January 2006. In the next winter break, he was loaned to another Belgian First Division club, S.V. Zulte Waregem before moving to Russia to play with Premier League club FC Khimki.

Return to Serbia

After one season in Russia, he returned to Serbia. This time he joined with FK Vojvodina, an ambitious Serbian SuperLiga club. Since he arrived, he became an influential player in the team. After a remerkably short period of time he became the team captain, and his good exhibitions made him became member of the Serbian national team from 2008, having been called up for a friendly against Bulgaria and another friendly match against Austria which took place the same year.[1]

After two seasons spent in Novi Sad, in summer 2010, he signed 3-years contact with Swiss side FC Sion.[2]

International career

Mrdja scored 2 goals against Japan in a friendly on April 7, 2010, for Serbia's 3–0 win. He was a part of the Serbian squad for the 2010 FIFA World Cup and was an unused sub in all games.
