It is a left tributary of the river Arieş. It flows through the villages Valea Ierii, Băişoara and Iara, and joins the Arieş near Moldoveneşti. It is fed by several smaller streams, including Şoimu, Valea Calului, Pârâul Caprei, Agriş, Măruţ, Huza, Săvuleşti, Ierţa and Almăşeni.
