Blackwater is a small rural village situated in the Parish of St Agnes between
Truro (6 miles) andRedruth (4 miles) and close to the north coast and its sandy beaches (3 miles). The Victorian philanphropist and journalistJohn Passmore Edwards was born here. [A. J. A. Blackwater School was built in 1877 and serves the village of Blackwater and surrounding countryside hamlets. The school comprises Infant Classroom and two Junior Classrooms, hall, kitchen, ICT suite, library, SEN room and various offices and resource areas. There is a large sports field, and adventure play area. Adjoining the field is a wild area, used for environmental and scientific education, together with small plots and a greenhouse. The school also has a Foundation Unit for children aged 3 - 5 years.
