USS "Embattle" (AM-226) was an "Admirable"-class minesweeper built for the
U.S. Navy duringWorld War II . She was built to clear minefields in offshore waters, and served the Navy in thePacific Ocean . Post-war she returned home proudly with onebattle star to her credit.She was launched
17 September 1944 byAmerican Shipbuilding Co.,Lorain, Ohio ; and commissioned25 April 1945 , Lieutenant P. A. Dulaney,USNR , in command.World War II Pacific Ocean operations
"Embattle" sailed from
Cleveland, Ohio ,30 April 1945 via theSt. Lawrence Waterway and after voyage repairs atBoston, Massachusetts , and shakedown exercises atNorfolk, Virginia , was en route to the Pacific when the war ended. After calling atSan Pedro, California , she continued toOkinawa , arriving6 November to aid in the postwar minesweeping operations there and in Japanese waters.Post-War Decommissioning
Reporting to
Subic Bay ,Philippine Islands ,21 March 1946 , she was demilitarized and departed forShanghai ,China . She was decommissioned there29 May 1946 , and turned over on the same day to the Chinese Maritime Commission via theForeign Liquidation Commission of theState Department . She was renamedYung Hsing (A 7) . Her fate is unknown."Embattle" received one
