UCS Group Limited

UCS Group Limited is the investment holding company of a set of information technology (IT) businesses that provide application software solutions mainly for retailers in southern Africa.

History

The UCS Group was started in 1978 as Universal Computer Services. Universal Computer Services' focus was mainly on the development and support of customised solutions for import and distribution. During 1998 the company bought Accsys and Easirun. In September 1998 UCS Group was listed on South Africa's Johannesburg Stock Exchange (JSE). During 1999, which included the Y2K phenomenon, UCS changed their focus to provide point-of-sale software solutions to local retailers in South Africa. Starting from the year 2000 up until 2003, the company acquired various small companies which merged to form "UCS Software" and "UCS Software Manufacturing". UCS Group Limited currently employs more than 2100 people.

Products

UCS Group Limited offers various products such as GAAP Point of Sale, UISOLV, ActiveRetail 4 UltiSales, ActiveRetail 4 MyEnterprise, Win Branch, Accsys, and UKS. These products all focus on different aspects of retail.
