"Diamonds on My Neck" is the first single to be released from Smitty's planned debut album, Life of a Troubled Child. The single was released in 2005 to moderate success, charting at #89 on the Billboard's Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs.[citation needed] The album was expected to drop shortly after the single but was shelved.

The song samples the hook from The Notorious B.I.G.'s song "Dangerous MC's" and was produced by Swizz Beatz. The official remix featuring Swizz Beatz, Lil' Wayne, and Twista has also been released, and another remix by Houston rapper Short Dawg was also released.
