Cutaway (3D graphics)

Cutaway (3D graphics)

In 3D graphics, cutaway involves selectively removing surface elements of a three-dimensional model to make internal features visible, but without sacrificing the outer context entirely.

The technique is used extensively in Computer-aided design, such as in this [http://www.carbodydesign.com/archive/2006/11/21-bmw-507-and-503/BMW-507-cutaway-drawing-lg.jpgcutaway drawing of the BMW 507] . It has also been incorporated into the user interface of some Computer games. In The Sims, for instance, users can select through a control panel whether to view the house they are building with no walls, cutaway walls, or full walls. [cite web
