The community is located along the
Sacramento River near Mile 199. Gianella Bridge gets traffic on SR32 across the river. A local landmark, known to all locals, is the Hamilton Union High School. Landmark grain elevators, originally Holly Sugar Corporation, and served byCalifornia Northern Railroad are visible from all over town. Glenn-Colusa Canal marks the west extent of the town.Geography

As of the
census GR|2 of 2000, there were 1,903 people, 513 households, and 431 families residing in the CDP. Thepopulation density was 6,043.9 people per square mile (2,370.2/km²). There were 543 housing units at an average density of 1,724.6/sq mi (676.3/km²). The racial makeup of the CDP was 38.10% White, 0.37% Black or African American, 1.21% Native American, 0.32% Asian, 56.38% from other races, and 3.63% from two or more races. 80.56% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.There were 513 households out of which 52.0% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 64.9% were married couples living together, 11.7% had a female householder with no husband present, and 15.8% were non-families. 10.5% of all households were made up of individuals and 4.7% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 3.71 and the average family size was 4.00.
In the CDP the population was spread out with 33.4% under the age of 18, 12.6% from 18 to 24, 28.3% from 25 to 44, 18.5% from 45 to 64, and 7.2% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 28 years. For every 100 females there were 106.0 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 113.1 males.
The median income for a household in the CDP was $33,169, and the median income for a family was $34,167. Males had a median income of $20,405 versus $14,191 for females. The
