Examples of Participation

New Visions for Public Schools has worked on several projects, mostly successful. These include:

* Radically redesigning more than 30 public schools throughout the five boroughs [http://www.newvisions.org/schools/nvs/nvsmap.aspx] .
* Starting the New Century High Schools Initiative (NCHSI), which seeks to turn around failing high schools by including communities into smaller, innovative centers [http://www.newvisions.org/schools/nchs/index.asp] . 83 new public high schools have been crafted out of concept, since only 2002. The program is also crucial to the present New York City Department of Education's turnaround of the city's high schools.
* In support of the management of these new schools, New Visions has also made a "4-year Leadership Continuum" for principals, according to [http://www.newvisions.org/leadership/index.asp their website] . Principals also receive advice on management of their schools after they are several years into operation. Faculty members of such schools are supported as well.
