As of the
census GR|2 of 2000, there were 85 people, 41 households, and 23 families residing in the town. Thepopulation density was 43.2/km² (111.8/mi²). There were 50 housing units at an average density of 25.4/km² (65.7/mi²). The racial makeup of the town was 92.94% White, 4.71% Native American, and 2.35% from two or more races.There were 41 households out of which 24.4% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 39.0% were married couples living together, 14.6% had a female householder with no husband present, and 41.5% were non-families. 39.0% of all households were made up of individuals and 12.2% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.07 and the average family size was 2.67.
In the town the population was spread out with 21.2% under the age of 18, 8.2% from 18 to 24, 27.1% from 25 to 44, 23.5% from 45 to 64, and 20.0% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 40 years. For every 100 females there were 93.2 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 97.1 males.
The median income for a household in the town was $20,000, and the median income for a family was $36,250. Males had a median income of $20,000 versus $15,625 for females. The

Larry Brody - American television writer who moved here in 2002 to establish the Cloud Creek Institute for the Arts.Dr. Donovan Horn born and raised in St. Joe. He was an All State basketball player for the Wildcats. He also was an All American basketball player at Arkansas Tech University in Russellville. He was a professor at Mississippi State University before he retired in 2002.
