This is a list of locomotives based at the preserved Great Central Railway.

Loughborough Motive Power Depot

The Steam Locomotives regularly run steam services all year round.
*Steam Locomotives in service
**London Midland & Scottish 2-8-0 Class 8F no. 48305 - BR Black with early crest, boiler ticket expires in 2016.
**British Railways 2-6-0 Class 2MT no. 78019 - BR Black with late crest, boiler ticket expires in 2014.
**Southern Railway 4-6-0 "King Arthur" Class N15 no. 30777 "Sir Lamiel" - BR Green with late crest, boiler ticket expires in 2016. On loan from the National Railway Museum.
**Great Western Railway 2-6-2T 5101 "Large Prairie" Class no. 4141 - BR Green with late crest, boiler ticket expires 2010.
**British Railways 4-6-2 "Britannia" Standard Class 7 no. 70013 "Oliver Cromwell" - BR Green with late crest, boiler ticket expires in 2018. On loan from the National Railway Museum.
**London Midland and Scottish Railway Fairburn 2-6-4 tank locomotive no. 42085 - BR Black with early crest, on loan from the Lakeside and Haverthwaite Railway.
**London and North Eastern Railway LNER Peppercorn Class A1 no. 60163 Tornado - Currently working on the line during its first months of service.

*Steam Locomotives under repair
**London Midland & Scottish 4-6-0 Class 5MT no 45305 - BR Black. Undergoing boiler repairs, planned to be done in Summer 2008.
**London & North Eastern Railway 2-8-0 Class O4 no. 63601 - BR Black. Undergoing a piston and valve examination as well as a few other repairs.

*Steam Locomotives undergoing Overhaul or Restoration
**British Railways 4-6-0 Class 5MT no. 73156. Re-wheeled, a new tender tank is being made off site and the motion is being fitted.
**London Midland & Scottish 2-6-0 Class 2MT no. 46521 - BR Green. Re-wheeling the frames is not far off, the boiler is due to go away to Germany for repair soon.
**London Midland & Scottish 0-6-0T Class 3F "Jinty" no. 47406 - BR Black. The frames are almost finished, the boiler is having the remainder of its stays fitted and should be re-tubed soon, could be a 2008 engine.
**London & North Eastern Railway 0-6-2T Class N2 no. 69523 - NER Green. The frames have been re-wheeled, the motion has been fitted and boiler work is ongoing, the old firebox has been cut out and a replacement one is being made up, new side tanks have also been made, the engine should be done in 2008.
**SR West Country 4-6-2 "Boscastle" no. 34039. The locomotive is currently under overhaul. Small parts are being removed and overhauled by a very small team of volunteers while quotes for boiler and firebox work are being gathered.

*Stored steam Locomotives
**Great Western Railway 4-6-0 6959 "Modified Hall" Class no. 6990 "Witherslack Hall. Recently arrived back from Tyseley Locomotive Works and is currently awaiting overhaul in the shed at Loughborough.
**LNER Class J94 0-6-0ST No. 7 "Robert". Stored at Quorn awaiting restoration and removal to Loughborough works.

**Andrew Barclay 0-4-0DM Industrial Shunter No 28 "Bardon" built in 1956. Rothley Carrige and Wagon Shunter.
**British Railways 0-6-0 Class 10 no. D4067. Loughborough Yard Shunter.
**British Railways Bo-Bo Class 20 no. D8098. Operational.
**British Railways Bo-Bo Class 25 no D5185 (25035). Operational.
**British Railways Bo-Bo Class 25 no 25265. Currently undergoing power unit repairs.
**British Railways A1A-A1A Class 31 no. D5830. In traffic - to be repainted.
**British Railways Bo-Bo Class 33 no. 33116 "Hertfordshire Rail Tours. Operational - requires bodywork repairs. On Loan from the National Railway Museum, York.
**British Railways Co-Co Class 37 no. 37314 "Dalzell". Operational. On loan from the Class Forty Appeal. Based at the Midland Railway Butterley.
**British Railways Co-Co Class 37 no. 37255 (on loan from Fragonset Railways). Main Permanent Way department locomotive - no working train brakes so limited to non-public services.
**British Railways 1Co-Co1 Class 45 no. D123 "Leicestershire and Derbyshire Yeomanry". Operational.
**British Railways Co-Co Class 47 no. D1705 "Sparrowhawk". Operational.

*Diesel Locomotives undergoing restoration or Overhaul
**British Railways 0-6-0 Class 08 no. D3101. Currently under overhaul.
**John Fowler Industrial Shunter 0-4-0DM "Arthur Wright". Undergoing major engine repairs at Rothley.
**British Railways0-6-0 Class 07 Stored outside Quorn Station awaiting restoration.

Diesel Multiple Units

*Diesel Multiple Units in service
**British Railways Class 101 unit 50321+51427 (Set A). Carries BR Green livery.

*Diesel Locomotive undergoing overhaul, restoration or light work
**British Railways Class 101 unit 53226+50203 (Set B). Undergoing major overhaul. Both vehicles are expected to be completed in 2008.
**AC Car Railbus No. 79976. Undergoing restoration

*Stored Diesel Multiple Units
**British Railways Class 101 unit 50193 (Spare). Currently used as a spares donor.
**British Railways Class 127/120 hybrid unit 51616+59276+51622. Currently stored - in line for future restoration.
**British Rail Class 111 centre Car No. 59575. To be run with the Class 101 units.

Electric Multiple Units

**BR Class 421 '4CIG' unit 1393 (Currently Being repainted into BR Green Livery] )
