Route description
Pennsylvania Route 282 heads north from US 30 Business on Green Street. It follows Green Street for a short distance and then follows Pennsylvania Avenue west for a short distance before turning north on Wallace Avenue. At the north end of Downingtown, the road intersects Norwood Road, which provides access to the U.S. Route 30 Downingtown Bypass. There is no direct connection between PA 282 and US 30. Pennsylvania Route 282 passes through a short section of Caln Township before heading north into East Brandywine Township, where the road becomes Creek Road. Creek Road carries Pennsylvania Route 282 north on a winding path following the East Branch Brandywine Creek. Pennsylvania Route 282 passes near Marsh Creek State Park before entering Wallace Township and then West Nantmeal Township, where it ends at PA 82.
PA 282 is a largely rural road outside of the Borough of Downingtown, and carries little traffic. The villages of Lyndell and Glenmoore both exist along the route north of Downingtown. Several old mills were built along this route to take advantage of the water from the Brandywine, though many are abandoned. Dowlin Forge Road, and the Struble Trail, which parallel PA 282 on the east side of the Brandywine Creek, provide access to two preserved ruins, the Dowlin Forge, and a grist mill.

The entire route is in Chester County.
