Charlie Cullinane (born 1945) is a former Irish sportsperson. He played hurling with his local club St. Finbarr’s and with the Cork senior inter-county team from 1969 until 1970.

Playing career

Club

Cullinane played his club hurling with the famous St. Finbarr’s club on the south side of Cork city. He enjoyed some success at underage levels before winning his first senior county championship title in 1965. This was later converted into a Munster club title. Cullinane won further county titles in 1968 and 1974. Once again this latter win was converted into a Munster club title as well as an All-Ireland club title.

Inter-county

Cullinane first came to prominence as a member of the Cork senior inter-county team in the late 1960s. In 1969 he first tasted success when he won National Hurling League honours with his native-county. Shortly afterwards Cullinane captured his first senior Munster title. Unfortunately, Cork were later defeated by Kilkenny in the All-Ireland final. In 1970 Cullinane added a second consecutive set of National League and provincial medals to his collection. He also collected his first All-Ireland medal following a victory over Wexford in the first 80-minute final.^[1]
