U.S. Census Bureau , the city has a total area of 16.0square mile s (41.5km² ), of which, 16.0 square miles (41.5 km²) of it is land and 0.06% is water.Demographics

census GR|2 of 2000, there were 3,523 people, 1,423 households, and 1,027 families residing in the city. Thepopulation density was 219.7 people per square mile (84.9/km²). There were 1,516 housing units at an average density of 94.6/sq mi (36.5/km²). The racial makeup of the city was 67.53% White, 31.28% Black or African American, 0.20% Native American, 0.09% Asian, 0.03% from other races, and 0.88% from two or more races. 0.20% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race. As of the 2006 census estimate, Headland's population was 5,271 people or an increase of 50% since 2000.fact|date=December 2007There were 1,423 households out of which 33.1% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 50.5% were married couples living together, 18.7% had a female householder with no husband present, and 27.8% were non-families. 25.7% of all households were made up of individuals and 12.0% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older.
