The Human Cannonball is a fictional character, a superhero published by DC Comics. He first appeared in "Superman Family" #188, (March 1978), and was created by Tom DeFalco and Win Mortimer.
Fictional character biography
The Human Cannonball is Ryan Chase, a would-be superhero who grew up in the circus. Wearing an advanced "flight pack" of his own design enables him to fly - he uses this to crash head-on into his enemies. He wears a globular black helmet to protect his head in collisions.
His costume consists of a green shirt (with a yellow CB emblem) and tights, black pants, black gloves and violet boots that come up to his thighs. The Human Cannonball appeared in consecutive issues of Superman Family #188 through #194 excepting issue #190.
Though too cocky for his own good, the Human Cannonball overcame his early blunders to become an effective partner for Lois Lane as seen in Superman Family #189 and 191. He was a central player in the battle to free the DNA Project from the control of the evil Adam (#192-194).
