Client for SharePoint Developer(s) Colligo Networks Stable release 4.2 / 2010-06-29 Operating system Microsoft Windows Type Collaboration Software License Proprietary Website http://www.colligo.com Colligo Contributor is an award-winning[1][2][3][4][5] proprietary software package aimed at businesses, developed by Colligo Networks of Vancouver, British Columbia. Colligo Contributor was launched in 2006[6] and is part of a family of Colligo products that provide rich client interfaces[7] for Microsoft SharePoint, a collaborative portal application based on the Windows SharePoint Services platform. The Colligo for Sharepoint product line also includes a free product called Colligo Reader.[6][8][9][10]
Colligo Contributor is a family of desktop software applications developed on the Microsoft .NET framework, that are designed to increase SharePoint user adoption by addressing "problems on the UI and user experience fronts".[11] These applications are compatible with servers running Windows SharePoint Services 2.0 or 3.0, Microsoft Office SharePoint Portal Server 2003, Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007, or SharePoint 2010.[12] Colligo Contributor has been called a “client for SharePoint”[7] because it "integrates the client infrastructure with the SharePoint infrastructure",[13] providing a local user interface that is an alternative to the typical SharePoint interface through a browser.[14] The architecture of the local data store enables users to optionally cache SharePoint content, making it available online and offline.[6] Colligo Contributor also includes a software development kit to build custom SharePoint client applications, and extensions such as custom metadata editors.[15]
Colligo contributor can be used to solve SharePoint usability challenges in several scenarios, such as e-mail and attachment management,[14][16] network file share replacement,[11] enterprise content management,[12] and SharePoint migration.[17] Colligo for SharePoint products are used by over 1,000 organizations (as of June 2009)[11] and have contributed to significant revenue growth for Colligo Networks in 2008, 2009 and 2010.[18][19][20][21]
