Henry Moore Baker (
January 11 ,1841 -May 30 ,1912 ) was a U.S. Representative fromNew Hampshire .Born in Bow, near
Concord, New Hampshire , Baker attended the common schools, as well as Pembroke, Tilton, and Hopkinton Academies in New Hampshire. He graduated from the New Hampshire Conference Seminary in 1859,Dartmouth College , Hanover, in 1863, and the law school of Columbian (now George Washington) University,Washington, D.C. , in 1866.He was admitted to the bar in 1866 and served as clerk in the War and Treasury Departments, 1864-1874. He commenced the practice of law in Washington in 1874. He served as judge advocate general of the National Guard of New Hampshire in 1886 and 1887 with the rank of
brigadier general . He served as member of theNew Hampshire Senate in 1891 and 1892.Baker was elected as a Republican to the Fifty-third and Fifty-fourth Congresses (
March 3 ,1893 -March 3 ,1897 ). He was not a candidate for renomination in 1896.He resumed the practice of his profession in
Washington, D.C. , but retained his legal residence inBow, New Hampshire . He served as member of theNew Hampshire House of Representatives , 1905-1909. He died inWashington, D.C. ,May 30 ,1912 , and was interred in Alexander Cemetery,Bow, New Hampshire .References
