The Bure rises near Melton Constable, eleven miles upstream of Aylsham, which was the original head of navigation. Nowadays, the head of navigation is 10 miles downstream atColtishall Bridge. After Aylsham Lock and Burgh Bridge, the Bure passes throughBuxton Lammas ,Coltishall ,Belaugh ,Wroxham ,Horning ,Ludham Bridge , pastSt. Benet's Abbey , through Oby,Acle , Stokesby, along the northern border of theHalvergate Marshes , through Runham andGreat Yarmouth where it meetsBreydon Water and flows into the sea atGorleston .It has two tributaries, the
River Thurne and theRiver Ant . There is also Muck Fleet which connects theTrinity Broads (Ormesby, Rollesby and Filby Broad) to the main network.The
