Homocysteine, a potentially cytotoxic amino acid, is remethylated to methionine in two ways:
By Methionine Synthase (MTR):homocysteine + 5-methyltetrahydrofolate ---> methionine + Dihydrofolate
By BHMT:homocysteine + betaine ---> methionine + dimethylglycine
