Vertebrate telomerase RNA

Vertebrate telomerase RNA

Telomerase is a ribonucleoprotein reverse transcriptase that synthesises telomeric DNA. Telomerase RNAs differ greatly in sequence and structure between vertebrates, ciliates and yeasts, but they share a 5' pseudoknot structure close to the template sequence. Vertebrate telomerase RNAs have a 3' H/ACA snoRNA-like domain. This family also contains viral telomerase RNAs from the Gallid herpes viruses as described by Fragnet "et al."cite journal | last = Fragnet | first = L | coauthors = Kut E, Rasschaert D | year = 2005 | title = Comparative functional study of the viral telomerase RNA based on natural mutations | journal = J Biol Chem. | volume = 280 | pages = 23502–23515 | pmid = 15811851 | doi = 10.1074/jbc.M501163200]
