- Mir-15 microRNA precursor family
The miR-15 microRNA precursor family are small
non-coding RNA genes that regulategene expression . The family includes the related mir-15a and mir-15b sequences. In humans miR-15a and miR-16 are clustered within 0.5 kilobases at 13q14. [cite journal | last = Lagos-Quintana | first = M | coauthors = Rauhut R, Lendeckel W, Tuschl T | year = 2001 | title = Identification of novel genes coding for small expressed RNAs | journal = Science | volume = 294 | pages = 853–858 | pmid = 11679670 | doi = 10.1126/science.1064921] This region has been shown to be deleted in more than half of B cell chronic lymphocytic leukaemias (CLL). Both miR-15a and miR-16 are deleted or down-regulated in more than two thirds of CLL cases.
