Melvin Smith (politician)

Melvin Smith of Hamilton, Ohio, is a labor leader and Democratic party politician.

In 2004, Smith was the party's nominee to contest a race for a seat in the Ohio Senate being vacated by Republican state Sen. Scott Nein, who was prevented from running for re-election by Ohio's term limits law.[1] Smith lost to Republican state Rep. Gary Cates.

Smith heads the AFL-CIO chapter of Butler, Warren, and Clinton counties.
