- Waverly Place
Waverly Place is a narrow street in the
Greenwich Village section ofNew York City , in the borough ofManhattan . It is unique amongst city streets in that Waverly changes direction roughly at its midpoint, turning from a north-by-northwest/south-by-southeast street to a northwest/southeast street. Far more unusual is the fact that at the intersection where this transition occurs, "three" different stretches of Waverly Place meet. That is, Waverly Place has a portion that is Y-shaped.It was named after Sir Walter Scott's novel "Waverley" in 1833. Its name is used in the
Disney series "Wizards of Waverly Place ", which is set in the neighborhood.Intersections from northwest to southeast
