Playing career
Sheffield United
Born in Sheffield, South Yorkshire, Roma started his professional football career in 2004 with his local side Sheffield United, after working his way through the youth team.
During his time with the club, Roma never quite broke into the first team but was in the squad on numerous occasions. Roma did make numerous appearances for the reserve A team, including games against Newcastle United, Manchester United and Bolton Wanderers, Roma was called also up for England at youth level and he represented England at under 18 and under 19 level. Roma also played in the Euro Championship Qualifiers in Russia, he gained 8 caps.
On 18 May 2007, Roma was released by the club along with Colin Marrison, Kyle McFadzean, Ryan Gyaki, James Ashmore and Sharu Naraji.[2] He has continued to work as an academy coach with the club.
Boston United
On 18 February 2005, Roma was sent out on a one-month loan to Football League Two side Boston United to gain first team experience,[3] where he made two appearances but failed to score.
Tamworth
Roma also spent three months on loan in the Nationwide Conference with Staffordshire club Tamworth. During his time with The Lambs, Roma started all 15 games during his time with The Lambs, however was unable to find the back of the net.[4]
On 2 July 2007 it was confirmed that Roma had arrived for pre-season training with Tamworth after recovering from a knee injury which he sustained at Sheffield united and was in discussion over terms for a contact for the 2007–08 season, and it is believed that Roma will agree a deal with the club in time for the start of their campaign in the Conference North.
Hinckley United
Just one week later, seemingly Roma had failed to agree terms with Tamworth and it was confirmed he had joined Conference North rivals Hinckley United. At the end of the 2008-09 he agreed to join Alfreton Town on a two year contract after both clubs agreed an undisclosed fee due to travel commitments.
Harrogate Town
After having an indifferent season at Alfreton Town and with a year still left on his contract Roma opted to move to Harrogate Town in the search of regular football. This move paid off as Roma was the only player in the 2010-11 season to play every league and cup game for Harrogate showing his versatility playing half the season at right back and half the season at left back, Roma's consistent performances earned him the chairmans and managers Player of the Season.
Gainsborough Trinity
After having a successful season at Harrogate Town Dominic put pen to paper on a one year deal at Harrogate Town's Conference North rivals Gainsborough Trinity for the 2011-2012 season.
