Racing Post

The "Racing Post" is a British daily horse racing, greyhound racing and sports betting newspaper. It is owned by FL Partners. After purchasing the lease (for a single pound), in 1998 the much older Trinity Mirror paper the "Sporting Life" was closed, despite a plan for the Sporting Life to switch to sports betting coverage.

The Racing Post was first published in April 1986. It includes information on form of horses in meetings across the country, the going of the courses, age of horses, handicap ratings and other information relevant to the race in question. Tips are also included, given by tipsters via a phone call.It is published every day, and is the most popular racing newspaper in Britain.

An annual Racing Post Chase is held at Kempton Park as well as the Racing Post Trophy, a Group 1 event for 2-year-olds over a mile(1600m) at Doncaster in October.

The Betting Site, Cricketbase and Soccerbase websites are also run under the "Racing Post" brand.

It was reported on 14 December 2006 that Trinity Mirror would look to sell the "Racing Post" as part of a shake-up of its newspaper empire.

The Racing Post was sold on 1 October 2007 for £170 million to FL Partners, an Irish Investment firm.
