Bibliography

The book "Blockbusting in Baltimore: The Edmondson Village Story" by sociologist W. Edward Orser (TheUniversity Press of Kentucky, 1994) tells the story of the racial succession and white flight that occurred in Edmondson as a result of the real estate sales process of blockbusting between 1955 and 1965. According to "The Corner: A Year in the Life of an Inner-City Neighborhood", it was not uncommon at this time for neighborhoods within Edmondson to shift from 100% White to 100% Black in a span less than one year. In 1968, particularly the section along Edmondson Avenue east of Gwynns Falls was one of the worst hit areas during the Baltimore riot of 1968 following the death of Martin Luther King Jr. [http://www.ubalt.edu/template.cfm?page=1634]
