Types of municipality included in list
The type of municipality is indicated by a code. These are CT — Township municipality, CU — Municipality of united townships, M — Municipality (not otherwise specified), P — Parish municipality, V — City, VL — Village. Unorganized areas not included
Currently, unorganized areas (NO) are not included in the list.
Aboriginal lands not included
Currently, Aboriginal lands (classifications RI — Indian Reserve, TC — Land reserved for the Cree, TI — Category I land reserved for the Inuit, TK — Land reserved for the Naskapi, VC — Cree village, VK — Naskapi village, VN — Northern village) are not included. Data for
Indian settlement s (EI) are included in the statistics for the municipalities in which they are situated (or the Indian settlement may be in an unorganized territory, not included here). [This is the case generally for data from the MAMR. Regional county municipality (RCM)
If a municipality legally belongs to a
regional county municipality (RCM), its name is given. Currently, the table contains no information on the manner in which those municipalities not belonging to an RCM are grouped for statistical purposes, other than what can be deduced from the first two digits of their codes. This column indicates whether a municipality belongs to the Communauté métropolitaine de Montréal or the
