The Coral Springs Fire Department converted from a volunteer fire department to a paid fire department in 2000. The department has undergone major growth over the years, serving an estimated 128,804 (2005 Census estimate). The department has recently officially taken over fire/rescue service for the City of Parkland, just to north. There are currently 5 fire stations within city limits and 3 in Parkland. There is also 1 battalion chief and one assistant chief always on duty to respond to large events.
Units
The fire department now has 3 new 2007 Pierce Dash, Custom Build and a 2006 Custom Pierce Dash Quint. Other in service units include:

- 1 Pierce Saber - Squirt
- 1 Tanker
- 7 2004-2007 AEV / Taylor Made Ambulance Rescues
- 1 Support Air Cascade Unit
