White Water Landing

White Water Landing

White Water Landing was a log flume attraction at Cedar Point amusement park in Sandusky Ohio. Built in 1982, it was made to be like a wild river ride down an Appalachian River. It was located in the Frontiertown section of the park adjacent to the CP & LE Railroad, near the Mean Streak. It curved around in the air, then plunged down a hill into track filled with water, and the riders would get wet from the splash.

Incident

On July 20, 2002, two of the flumes got jammed together at the bottom of the hill. When the next flume came down the hill, it collided with the two other flumes causing minor injuries. All six people were sent to a local hospital and released.

Demolition

At the end of the 2005 season, it was announced that White Water Landing would be closing to make room for another attraction. The attraction was unknown until on September 7, 2006 when the park released their 21 million dollar investment, Maverick. Its station and queue is still intact, and used for Maverick. There is still a concrete section of the track from White Water Landing located by the queue, before entering the final queue area, or White Water Landing's former loading platform. The track segment is used as a small stream.
