Mymensingh Zilla School is a boys-only school in Bangladesh established in 1853. The school is located within 10 minute of rickshaw ride from the center of the town. In a residential area, the school is quiet without significant noise from the main street. This school has the facility for study from third grade to tenth grade. Every year students are admitted in third grade and sixth grade. In each grade, there are two sections, namely, Section A and Section B. It is one of the oldest school and provides high quality of education under the supervision of highly experienced and skilled teachers. Students from this school perform extremely well in Secondary School Certificate Examination (S.S.C), which is a public examination for all students in Bangladesh after completing their 10th grade.

Since 1990, Mymensingh Zilla School has two shifts - morning and day. The morning shift starts at 7.30 am and day shifts starts at 12.00 noon. Though it is a boy's school, it has both male and female teachers. This school has one headmaster but it has separate groups of teachers for morning and day shifts.

Mymensingh Zilla School has a big playground, a big pond, three large buildings, one hall room, and one dormitory. A mosque is also located next to the playground where most of the Muslim students and teachers say their prayers.

History

Mymensingh Zilla School was established in 1853. It is a government school. During last 150 yars it has educated many outstanding students who have been recognized for national importance.

Admission

Generally, admission is permitted in class three and six once in a year. There is no eligibility for admission test, and with good performance in admission test, students are usually admitted in these two classes.

Tuition fee

Due to be a government school, tuition fee is very low compared to private school. Tuition fee also includes tiffin fee, and it is usually taken monthly. There are three fixed dates when tuition fee is taken and first two dates are penalty less. In each class, there are 2/3 class representative who usually deal with teachers and take care of tiffin, knows as class representatives. Class representatives are elected by the class with a guidance of the class teacher.

School uniform

School uniform was introduced in 1968.

Educational facilities

Mymensingh Zilla School has educational facilities like science laboratory, workshop, computer lab, covered gymnasium, and library. Lessons on physics, chemistry, and biology are normally imparted in the science laboratory.
