This is a list of notable residents of Belgrade, Serbia.

* Septimus Severus, Emperor of Rome, declares Singidunum a Roman "municipium" (self-governing city)
* Flavius Claudius Iovianus, known as Jovian Emperor of Rome, born in the city in 332 A.D., restores Christianity as the official religion of the Roman Empire.
* Atilla the Hun uses the city as a military base for his further penetration into the Balkans, between 441 and 443 B.C., a decade before his death in 453. He is presumably buried 70 km north of the city [http://www.serbia-visit.com/Serbia-Tourism/Belgrade/Belgrade.1.54.htm]
* King Stefan Dragutin, first Serbian king to rule the city, makes Belgrade the capital of his Kingdom of Syrmia in 1284.

* Despot Stefan Lazarević makes the city the capital of Serbian Despotate in 1404
* Dositej Obradović, author, writer and a Minister of Education, establishes the University of Belgrade in 1808
* Miloš Obrenović, Prince of Serbia, proclaims it the capital city in 1841.
* Vuk Stefanović Karadžić, linguist and a major reformer of the Serbian language
* Stevan Stojanović Mokranjac leads the Belgrade choir in the late 19th century
* Milutin Milanković, scientist
* Dragutin Gavrilović, colonel of the Serbian Army in World War I and the defender of Belgrade in 1915.
* Ivo Andrić, novelist, short-story writer and a Nobel Prize laureate.
* Meša Selimović, author.
* Josip Broz Tito, President for Life of Yugoslavia.
* Slobodan Milošević, late president of Serbia and Yugoslavia.
* Zoran Đinđić, mayor of Belgrade, late prime minister of Serbia.
