Kostis Papagiorgis

Kostis Papagiorgis (1947-) is a Greek essayist, columnist and translator of philosophical studies.

Biography

A teacher's son, he was born in 1947 in Neochori Ypatis and has lived in Kymi ('51-'60), Chalandri -where he lives permanently-, Thessaloníki ('66-'67) and Paris ('69-'75).

He has attended law school in Thessaloníki and philosophy in Paris, without, however, having completed his studies. He has been writing and translating since the latter half of the 70s, while at the same time working in publishing. He has published the theoretical magazine "Chora". Since 1987 he is distinguished in writing essays.

In 2002 he was honored with the Sate Literary Award (Greece's most prestigious literary award) for his work "Kanellos Delegiannis".

At present, he lives and works in Athens and is married to Rania Stathopoulou.
