History

Starting in 1946 with $500 of borrowed money, Paul and Jane Skogen arranged to have their first load of groceries delivered on credit to their 3,000-square-foot store in Onalaska. After acquiring a number of IGA stores over the years and then going in favor of the Festival Foods concept, the company currently has 13 Festival Foods stores.

In 1976, Paul Skogen died. His son, Dave, and his wife, Barb, along with son, Mark, and daughter, Sue, are now the sole owners. The Skogen family is active in the company's day-to-day operations and can be seen cutting meat, stocking shelves, bagging groceries or even cashiering. The hands-on approach that started with Paul and Jane Skogen has guided this company over the years.

Festival's marketing slogan: The Boomerang Theory, where every business decision is based on one question: Will it bring the customer back?Company's slogan: Great stuff for not a lotta money!

In 2008, Festival Foods will open its newest store in Manitowoc, Wis., and future stores are planned.
