Narendrapuram is a village located near Amalapuram in East Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh, India. It has a population of around 1,500 people spread over an area of 0.9 km2. It is situated 3 km from the Godavari River at Bellampudi. The populace are mainly dependent on farming. The village was known for its rich brahmin landlords.
It was the centre of vedic learning, and produced great vedic scholars like Korada Subbavadhani(bellampudi),Rani Subrahmanyam, Bhamidi Krishnamaavadhani etc. The village also had prominent sastric scholars like Rani Narasimha Sastry gaaru (1922 - 2001) and Kompella Subbaraya Sastry gaaru (1910 - 1983)(both, President award winners). Speciality of the awardees is that Rani Narasimha Sastry gaaru is one of the chief students of Sri Kompella Subbaraya Sastry gaaru.
Everyone of the village had a great reverence for Kompella Subbaraya Sastry gaaru, who was also known as Paathasala Sastry gaaru, as he was attached with the Sri Subrahmanya Bharati Bhavana Sanskruta Kalasaala, founded by Tsalla Subrahmanyam gaaru (father of Dattudu gaaru). The Centenary Celebration of Sastry gaaru will take place during Oct 30 - Nov 01 2010.
It is an educational hub for the area, one telugu medium high school Named S.S.Z.P.H. School established in early stages of independace i.e. in 1951 by sri. Tsalla Subrahmanyam garu (Alias Dattudu gaaru)(1914 - 1970), the most renowned benevolent person in this area who developed the village in many ways not only in establishing school but also in developing roads and gave charity to Govt of India during the 1962/1965 wars. The village boasts of having two English medium schools, including Kennedy Convent High School (now Oxford High School), established by Ayyagari Suryanarayana (Suri babu garu), and a junior college by Pilli Sinivas .
With good transportation facilities and good roads, the village is well connected to nearby towns and cities.
