Prime Point Foundation, officially inaugurated in December, 1999, is a not-for-profit organization, and was founded by K. Srinivasan, founder of the Prime Point Consultants, a Chennai based PR consultants. Dr. M. S. Swaminathan, an agricultural scientist of international repute and standing, inaugurated the trust. The present trustees include the founder; and S. Narendra, a former spokesman of the Government of India and former information advisor to the Prime Minister of India. The trust aims to create awareness about public relations among the management students of Indian universities and colleges. The trust draws strength in its functioning from the core competency of the founders, which specialize in comprehensive image management solutions (CMIS) based on activities including Image Audit, Internal Communications, Media relations, internet public relations, communication with the stock holders.

Participation

Since its inception, a number of eminent Indians from diverse fields have participated in the activities of the Prime Point Foundation including Sri Jayendra Saraswathi Swamigal, M. S. Swaminathan, T S Krishnamurthy, N Rangachary, T S Raghavan, N Vittal, Yagnaswami Sundara Rajan, and many others.

Activities

The Prime Point Foundation facilitates a number of activities. Its training division organises workshops covering areas like strategic corporate communication, stress management, and team building. It has also facilitated establishment of at least three more organisations to serve the PR requirements of the corporates and other entities, namely,

*The New Media Forum which brings together the media journalists operating in Chennai.
*The Chennai PR Club which serves as a meeting place for PR and professionals related to corporate communications.
*The India Vision Clubs in many parts of India. The India Vision Clubs draw inspiration from India 2020, a book written by A P J Abdul Kalam, the current (2007) president of the Republic of India. Moreover, to encourage the awareness about public relations and to recognise exemplary contributions in the field of public relations, the Prime Point Foundation has also presented a number of awards:

*2000-01: Award for the best public relations related campaign by the colleges and educational institutions of the metropolis of Chennai.
*2001-02: Award for the best documentary film produced by students of Mass communication of the colleges and educational institutions of the metropolis of Chennai.
*2003: Essay Contest on "India Vision" for the students of colleges and other educational institutions of the state of Tamil Nadu.
*2004: Award for the best public service programme by the Doordarshan, the national TV channel of India.

The Prime Point Foundation is also associated with a number of online activities. For instance, the Foundation maintains [http://www.indiavision2020.org/index.htm India Vision 2020] , a website inspired by the book India 2020.

Recently, the Foundation pioneered utilization of the medium of wiki to create a syllabus for "PG Diploma Course in Communications and PR" [http://www.hindu.com/thehindu/holnus/004200704280312.htm] by one of the leading universities of India, the Anna University Coimbatore. Building of syllabus for a university accredited course using the medium of wiki was accomplished first time in the world as indicated by Dr. Radhakrishnan who is currently (2007) the Vice Chancellor of the university.

It is notable that the United nations had extended a recognition to the Prime Point Foundation as "National volunteer contact" for India to guide the people on "Volunteer day preparations and celebrations".

The Foundation is managing major discussion groups on Public Relations, Communication and Journalism. The Foundation publishes India's first PodMagazine titled [http://www.poduniversal.com 'PodUniversal'] . Till June 2008, the Foundation has published more than 100 podcasts on various themes, covering health, education, public reltions, communication, media, economics, etc.

Since March 2006, the Foundation publishes a Corporate monthly ezine titled [http://www.corpezine.com 'PR-e-Sense'] Every month, the ezine deals with one corporate relevant theme. Many eminent people have either Guest Edited this ezine or contributed their views exclusively. This ezine has received Awards from Association of Business Communicators of India and Public Relations Council of India. This ezine was the media partner for the 5th World PR Conference held in June 2008 at London. This ezine is also the Media Partner for the International PR Conference to be held in Detroit in October 2008 hosted by Public Relations Society of America (PRSA)
