The club plays its matches at Princes Park in the
suburb ofAuburn Council inSydney ,New South Wales . The location of the field is about 15 kilometres west ofSydney central business district and is serviced by regular trains from Central station to Auburn train station (on the South line and Western line).In the summer months (January, February, and March) the club base itself in "Queens Park" in the eastern suburbs. Queens Park is located 6 km east of the
Sydney central business district , near Centennial Park. (West of Waverley and Charing Cross, south of Bondi Junction and north of Randwick).In the
Autumn andWinter (April to September) the club holds its training sessions inAshfield Park ,Ashfield in inner-west Sydney.Training is on Tuesday and Thursday nights at 7p.m.
History
Set-up in 1969, the club took to the field and contested in competition - narrowly missing out on silverware in its first year [cite web |url=http://www.youngirelandssydney.com/history/history.htm |title=Club history |accessdate=2008-04-07] . In 1970 however, the club took home the championship trophy. As a result of this win Young Ireland were rewarded with the chance to represent the New South Wales G.A.A in the Australian inter-state competition. The club recorded a 6 point win against another Young Ireland of Melbourne in
Wagga Wagga In 1989 Young Ireland became the first
Gaelic football team to have a sponsor's name on its jerseys, whenMike Hughes Finance became sponsors.Fact|date=November 2007In 1990 the club was invited to take part in an exhibition game against "Wolfetones" of
Melbourne as thecurtain-raiser to theIreland v'sAustralia International Rules match.The
