Hydroxypethidine (Bemidone) is an
opioid analgesicthat is an analogue of pethidine(meperidine). Hydroxypethidine is significantly less potent than meperidine as an analgesic, (0.3x meperidine in potency) although it also has NMDA antagonistproperties like its close relative ketobemidone. [ Isbell Harris. The addiction liability of some analogues of meperidine. Journal of Pharmacology And Experimental Therapeutics, 1949; 97(2): 182-190 ]
