Hackett (clothing)

Hackett is an upmarket, British Gentlemen's clothing store regarded by 'fashion bibles', such as the American Express exclusive lifestyle magazine Departures, as on a par with top-end fashion houses Ralph Lauren Purple Label, Brioni and Gieves & Hawkes. It was founded in 1983 by Jeremy Hackett, who said that he would "cater for the head to toe needs of Gentlemen who wish to dress stylishly and to whom quality is more important than the vagaries of fashion." [Tatler 10/1985] He now writes a regular column for the review section of the UK national newspaper The Independent on Sunday, where he airs his views and observations on fashion and style.

According to Jeremy Hackett, the first store was originally based at "the wrong end of the New King's Road", [http://www.hackett.com/index.cfm?page=1040] but its flag-ship store is now in Sloane Street, with branches in Jermyn Street, Regent Street, Eastcheap, Covent Garden and several prime cities in Europe.

The actor Matthew Goode and the English Rugby player Jonny Wilkinson OBE feature in their brochure and in many of their current advertisements. Hackett also sponsors the London Rowing Club, Oxford and Cambridge Boat Race, Aston Martin Racing and the Hackett British Army Polo Team.
