Who Shot Sherlock? is the eleventh episode in the of the popular American crime drama , set in Las Vegas, Nevada.

ummary

Nick, Warrick, and Catherine investigate a man who is found dead in his Jeep crashed into a tree at the bottom of a hill. The vehicle does not start, all of the victim's money is gone, and his cause of death cannot be determined by "Doc", though he knows that it was not blunt force trauma from the crash. John Krasinski made a guest appearance here.

Plot

Greg investigates a murder for his final proficiency. Grissom does minimal help as he is grading Greg on his performance, and Sara does some minimal help as well. The basement of the house is a perfect recreation of 221B Baker Street, and the decedent is dressed as Sherlock Holmes. The man appears to have committed suicide by shooting himself, but the gun cannot be found at the crime scene. Shortly after the body is found they learn that the victim participated in a weekly get together with three friends who also dressed up as Sherlock Holmes characters. All three are suspects and Greg investigates each one until he makes his final determination of whom he believes committed the murder. Grissom looks at the report Greg hands in and sees that it is probably someone else that actually committed the murder. This suspect is interrogated and confesses to the crime. Greg thinks that he doesn't pass his final proficiency because he concluded the wrong person, but Grissom passes him and says that he did his job of collecting the evidence perfectly and that interpreting it is hard and is why they work as a team.

Critical analysis

The final outcome of Greg's case perfectly parallels the original Sherlock Holmes story "The Problem of Thor Bridge".

Continuity

Greg failed his final proficiency test in "Viva Las Vegas" but was given a second chance by Grissom, and passed it in this episode.
