In 1982 she joined Tyne Tees as a weather presenter, however this was a short lived role, as she left, to join
LWT News. Though she returned in 1989 as a main presenter on Tyne Tees which to present she still is. She anchored various news bulletins and stood in forMike Neville during his infrequent holidays from "North East Tonight ". Plus, she hosted various regional programmes, such as "Primetime" in 1999, and to date "Northern Skies" as a narrator.With Neville's illness in 2005, Royle was one of the many presenters who stood-in for him. However she was given a more main role in January 2006, presenting the new "North" edition of "
North East Tonight " alongsideJonathan Morrell . But in September 2006, she moved to the "South" edition.Currently, Royle can be seen presenting a feature during "North East Tonight" visiting various residences' in the North East. It is called "Our Gardens", it encourages viewers to look after their garden and keep it presentable, giving them tips. The best are featured in a weekly slot with Pam visiting the owners.
On August 7, 2007 she was co-presenting the "South" edition of "
North East Tonight ", alongside Kenny Toal. He was being sick, before the programme went on air at 6pm, plus during news reports. However he managed not to whilst on camera. Therefore Royle had to read various links to the reports. He couldn't go on, and exited the programme half way through, leaving Royle to solo anchor to the end.
