Ian Payne is a television presenter. He currently works at ITV Tyne Tees as a newsreader on "North East Tonight" - South; he co-presents the magazine news programme with Pam Royle.

Payne was from Ipswich originally but studied sport at Newcastle University and did a placement with TV Sport and Leisure (TSL). He then joined ITV Tyne Tees, for work expierence whilst working on a degree in journalism. He then became a sports assistant, later Senior Sports Presenter, then in September 2006, he was made a co-presenter on the new South edition of "North East Tonight" alongside Pam Royle.

In an interview with 'skillset.org' Payne said the aspect of his job he enjoys the most is;

When I was working in sport I enjoyed being part of the enthusiasm and passion of the North East - it's unbeaten anywhere in the country. And to be respected for having the knowledge and the authority. I was very proud of that. Now I'm bringing that to news. It's a very responsible position to be in and you have to get it right.

In September 2008, Payne presented ITV News' 2008 Summer Paralympics coverage, based in China.
