History
The company was founded by Jeremy Ord, Richard Came and Bruce Watson in 1983 in South Africa as an information technology specialist.[2]
It was first listed on the JSE Securities Exchange in 1987.[2] In 1998 it acquired Plessey South Africa.[2] During the next two years it bought a series of companies in the UK, North America, Europe and Australia.[2] It was first listed on the London Stock Exchange in 2000.[2] In 2008 it acquired Data Processing Systems, an IT business based in the United Arab Emirates and completed the acquisition of Datacraft Asia.[3]
In July 2010, Nippon Telegraph and Telephone announced an agreed takeover of Dimension Data in £2.12 billion ($3.24 billion) deal.[4] The offer was declared unconditional on 11 October 2010, with over 93% of shareholders having agreed to tender their holdings.[5]
Operations
The Company manages the implementation of IT solutions and also acts as a value added re-seller for Cisco Systems.[6]
Dimension Data Learning Solutions (DDLS) is a subsidiary of Dimension Data Holdings.
