David López Moreno (born 10 September 1982 in Logroño, La Rioja) is a Spanish footballer who plays for Athletic Bilbao in La Liga, as a midfielder.

Football career

A product of CA Osasuna's youth ranks, López made his first-team - and La Liga - debut on 17 October 2004, in a 3–2 home win against Albacete Balompié, and finished his debut season with 13 appearances and one goal (in his first game).

The following season, he was an undisputed starter, as the Navarrese outfit achieved a first ever UEFA Champions League berth, as López scored six goals, including a crucial one in the last matchday, a 2–1 home success against Valencia CF.

As Osasuna was "demoted" to the UEFA Cup, he appeared 11 times in the club's semifinals run, scoring in 3–0 away successes against Parma FC (twice)^[1] and Bayer 04 Leverkusen.^[2]

In the 2007 summer, López signed with neighbours Athletic de Bilbao, for around €6 million.^[3] His official club debut was on 28 August, during a 0–0 home draw against his former team, and he was automatic first-choice in his first two years, appearing in 61 league matches combined; in his second, he helped the Basque narrowly avoid relegation, scoring at Recreativo de Huelva (1–1),^[4] and at home against Sporting de Gijón (3–0)^[5] and Racing de Santander (2–1, through a penalty).^[6]
